At AkzoNobel – International Paint – SKE Verpackungssysteme GmbH, the safety and health of our customers is our top priority.
In keeping with this philosophy, we hereby inform you about the training requirements for the safe handling of certain products.
From August 24, 2023, all commercial and industrial users of products containing diisocyanates must complete safe handling training in accordance with the REACH regulation on the restriction of diisocyanates published by the European Commission on August 4, 2020.
This compulsory training is aimed at all commercial and industrial users of products containing diisocyanate.
This restriction and the need for training are intended to ensure that processors across the EU have appropriate instructions for the safe handling of products containing diisocyanate.
The training obligation applies to all employees in your company who handle these products, as well as their superiors. You should ensure that, from August 24, 2023, you can demonstrate that each of these employees has successfully completed this training in the event of a regulatory inspection.
The EU associations of isocyanate producers (ISOPA and ALIPA) have developed a training program in close cooperation with the relevant industry associations (such as the European Paint and Coatings Industry Association CEPE).
The training can be completed online (in the form of eLearning) or as part of classroom training by a certified trainer.

We are all the more pleased to be able to inform you that all of our common products only contain such small amounts of diisocyanates that there is no requirement for training.
The following products are completely diisocyanate-free and contain diisocyanates < 0.1% by weight, and the new regulation does not apply to them:
